The landscape surrounding Buchenberg is ancient farmland, fields and pastureland, woods, and thickets, bushes and wasteland. Even the Escach pond, its waters enticingly set in a valley, reveals the creative strength of farmers' hands. Centuries of long, patient manual work have transformed nature into a profitable cultural landscape pleasing to the eye......the basic prerequisite for a restful holiday.
We take this so much for granted that nobody ever really thinks about it. On the contrary. We know far too little these days about our food and the problems involved in its production. And we are therefore unable to assess the farmer's work and its consequences for us, the consumers of nature and landscape. With our "Adventure farmland" programme, we aim to contribute towards a better understanding of the work of farmers and their cultural landscape.
